Description
State Requirements

While this course may be mandatory, it's also beneficial for brokers to review a range of topics concerning real estate activities. While licensees are the lifeblood of any brokerage, they also pose the greatest risk to the brokerage's licensure. Inexperienced licensees may lack education and training in key areas, causing them to make innocent mistakes, unintentionally provide misinformation, or fail to make appropriate disclosures. Experienced licensees can sometimes act beyond the scope of their license or expertise. In trying to be helpful, they can put the sponsoring broker's license at risk. And unfortunately, some licensees intentionally misrepresent information and commit acts of fraud.

Appropriate supervision is a Louisiana broker's best risk management strategy, and it's also a requirement of the person acting in a supervisory role. This course will cover the broker's role in supervising licensees and employees, highlighting areas brokers may want to pay close attention to.

All active brokers and associate brokers must complete the Louisiana Real Estate Commission (LREC) 2026 Broker Mandatory Course as part of their annual continuing education requirement.

Course highlights include:

  • Licensee supervision and training
  • Recordkeeping requirements
    • Employment law in Louisiana
    • Employee vs. contractor
